I remember traveling to London while in high school and watching the map of our travels and seeing that we flew over Iceland and thinking that someday I need to go there. After watching this video clip I really want to go there… Looks fantastic!
Enjoy!

Glad to have a day in the 60’s, so we headed to the park!
Bright sunshine today and I decided to play around with a desaturated processing in Aperture and Perfect Photo B&W 1

Got out the strobes and soft boxes to take a few photos of his bouquet of flowers. Purchase this image as a print or card
I liked the gold sepia tones of the processing.. I used Aperture and Perfect Photo Effects 4 for the cool tones!

I saw the interesting shapes and textures on the bottom of the shower mat and wondered if an interesting image could be made… I decided to play around with DOF then processed into B&W in Aperture.

I liked this close up, one day I’ll get a Macro for these! I used the overhead lights from the kitchen for the lighting. Crop and added a bit of contrast in Aperture.

I’ve recently started getting a bunch of Flowers from Costco on Friday’s. I’m not exactly sure where they get them from but they are a really nice bunch of flowers for $16 and they last a really long time. Usually well over a week. Be great to hear if other Costco’s have nice flowers as well.
Lighting from a large soft box about 16″ to camera right. Edited in Perfect Photo Effects 4 and Aperture

So, this is how I make almost instant coffee… Espresso ground with a burr grinder, mug of hot water warmed in the microwave(I’m way to lazy to wait for the tea kettle, sadly.) and then make two shots of espresso into the hot water… I use this Breville Espresso Machine. I really don’t know much about espresso machines but this one works well for my purposes. It’s easy to clean and figure out.
My version of an Americano, or Doug’s Instant.

R’s Grandma was in town for her birthday, so I pulled out the camera and a speed light and tried getting some captures. This was a favorite!
I’m enjoying working with harsher shadows lately. I figure if I know how to create shadows with the right light set up, then I’ll know how to remove them when I need to! Or thats the theory!
Practice, practice, practice….
